Public meeting rescheduled

The Alabama Surface Mining Commission sent out a notice that the previously scheduled meeting for August 19 at 10:00 am will be rescheduled at a different time and/or day. We have heard that there is a technical difficulty with the permit, having to do with a particular 40 acre area that was not included in the original permit, but is included in the drawings on the maps submitted with the permit. We assume that the meeting will be rescheduled when this issue has been resolved. We are uncertain if the public comment period has been extended or not.

We also suspect that they were influenced by the massive letter campaign requesting that this meeting be held in the evening when working people could attend.
