We just got a call from Melissa Shute in Senator Jeff Sessions Office in Washington. She is investigating the Rosa Coal Mine for Senator Sessions and will write a report on the mine for him to review. She said one of the things Senator Sessions is going to want to know is how many jobs would be created for the area. We told her less than 20 jobs are likely and that the economic benefit of this mine is minuscule compared to the damage, pain and suffering of hundreds of folks who will be impacted. We also pointed out that the company is too small and incapable of doing a mine of this proposed size. She asked what we would like for Senator Sessions to do and we told her we want him to voice his opposition to this mine, especially to the ASMC.
She said Senator Sessions was surprised to hear about the mine. It seemed to come out of the blue. We told her that’s the way we felt too. She said she was going to call ADEM and ASMC to investigate further. She fell short of saying Senator Sessions would oppose the mine.
We need to send his office lots of opposition while the iron is hot and his staff is actually looking at the issue. Please send the Senator a hand written letters (best), typed letters or emails, right now!

i want to know the cause and if its not a good one than i really think it will mess up our river and the nature of our animals we have a great wild life going for blount co and i do not want to see the ground get tore up for money! money is not everything god provided us with whats here to keep us alive and if it goes then what no more human life and besides that dont you think there has been enough people kill by mining already enough is enough
